    Auctions with Reserves

First off why? Why not just place at the reserve price.

Second. Does anyone know what teams do with the items that do not sell for what the reserve price was listed at? I have went after 2 items with the highest bid, and didnt break reserve. Never to see them again.

They were both items the Pirates were selling. One was a game used base from a milestone game with the reds, and the other was the throwback jerseys that the Pirates were selling. Like the Joey Votto one that is up on the Pirates site now.

They are kept by the team and in most cases offered at the team store or to those on the waiting list they maintain. Hope that helps.

I never understood that either. I think the school of thought is that if the price is lower, people will bid. I normally pass on reserve auctions.

On the flip side, I laugh at the auctions that hype NO RESERVE...yet their opening bid is 3x the value of the item.
