I have a small collection of 1955 Dairy Queen Big League Stars statues that I would like to auction. I know that Hunt auctions sold a group of these in 2006. Any auction houses that might do better? All suggestions welcome.

Sounds like an ideal lot for a Mastro Classic Collectors auction.

REA (Robert Edward Auctions) is the best, but they may not take it. I would also suggest Hunt. I just sold some stuff through Mastro and am so unhappy with them, I will never go back.

REA is the best, but the Classic may be the best for your lot. Ebay, may not be bad either when you consider the 15% consignement fee, and 15-20% buyers fee with the big boys.

I'm in contact with Mastro and I also offered them a cuban baseball figurine and they basically turned it down. Since when does an auction company turn down an item because its "not right for them" ?

The auction houses usually only consign items that fall in a certain value range (i.e. Mastro wants $1,000 lots for premier auctions usually) or of certain quality or age. I havn't seen you figurine, but I assume they don't believe it will generate the $ they are looking for. Put it on ebay.

Chris,

Why are you so unhappy with Mastro? I have never consigned with a major auction house so I'm just wondering.

Thanks,
