    Who To Believe?

Current Grey Flannel Lot #232 1986-87 Erving jersey size 40

Lampson letter from 1986-87 BRSZ Erving jersey size 44

Still looking for a scan from a GFC catalog from somewhere between 1999 - 2003, which shows a HOME WHITE 1986-87 Erving Sixers Sand-Knit jersey with an auto on front. Would like to compare that size to these.

Late in his career, do the media guides show a weight change for E-R-V-I-N-G? Its funny that The Lampson makes note of the inconsistency.

Thanks JDR3!!! What year is that catalog from?

I had that issue, but didn't save it. Couldn't recall the size. Just remember the auto...which sort of looked like it bled a little.

        So now we have a 40, 42 & 44.

Waiting to hear back from the HOF. They too have one on display.

Wish I could get a definitive explanation of those year tags. Some say every jersey from the 86-87 season would have an 86 year tag. But I've seen a number of Erving items with the 87 tag. If they are ordered later in the season, could they have the following year tag?

          It is from June 21 & 22, 2000.

"87" year tag would be for the 1987-88 season, of course "The Doctah" was since retired. Don't know about mid-season jersey orders...once I thought I was wrong, but I was mistaken.

Heard back from the HOF today and their 86-87 Erving is a size 40.

I asked about the year tag and they said it was tagged 86-87. I assumed he meant it had an 86 tag, meaning it was from the 86-87 season. But he said it actually was tagged 86-87. More confusion.

I've never seen any Erving-era Sixers jerseys with anything but the single year tag.

They wouldn't add a tag specifically for the HOF, would they???

I've never seen anything but a single year tag on ANY NBA jersey before 1989.
