Forum readers-

Just listed on Ebay-a "1986 game worn Mike Schmidt jersey""

http://cgi.ebay.com/Mike-Schmidt-1986-game-used-jersey-PHILLIES-HOF_W0QQitemZ230055552808QQihZ013QQcategoryZ60597Q QrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The jersey is a Rawlings button-down home and is tagged SET 2 1986. The description reads, "Up for bid is a 1986 Philadelphia Phillies jersey that is believed to be game-worn by one of the greatest third baseman of all-time, Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt. The jersey was purchased among a large group of game-used items several years ago from a clubhouse employee. The jersey is a professional model. The tagging is on the inside of the jersey, which is but definitely not uncommon as clubhouse attendants often did the sewing work. The jersey is size 44.

Folks, I've seen some garbage in my days but this one really has to be one of the best jokes, yet!

1. The Phillies wore Wilson brand ZIPPER front jerseys in 1986
2. The Phillies switched to Rawlings button-down in 1987
3. The Rawlings tagging on ALL of their Phillies jerseys (1987-1991) is
found in the collar.
4. The players name should be embroidered to the right of the Rawlings
tag on 1987 homes

I am quite familiar with clubhouse attendant's duties, which include providing food, beverage and uniform washings, however, was not aware that they also sewed the tags into jerseys, "The jersey is a professional model. The tagging is on the inside of the jersey, which is but definitely not uncommon as clubhouse attendants often did the sewing work."

I purchased the majority of Phillies game worn 1987-1990 knits directly from the team. I never saw anything manufactured by Rawlings with 1986 year tag, tagging in the tail or a home void of the name next to the tag in the neck.

I contacted the seller, and he indicated he too had questions, however, showed it to some folks who felt comfortable with it, however, described it in his description as "believed to be game worn". Give me a break!

The seller also currently has a Carlton 1977 road on Ebay. I'll discuss this one shortly.

Also, let's not forget that the traditional round sleeve patch is not present, either. Based on the sellers information, one can only assume that the clubhouse attendant was possibly too busy sewing other tags into jerseys to find time to add the patch to this particular jersey.

Forum Readers-
Within an hour of my post, the seller removed the jersey and has now replaced it with some type of Schmidt All Star jersey. How crazy is this???? I have not yet had a chance to research this particular jersey, however, welcome the thoughts of the other Forum Readers as to what it actually is. Did Schmidt actually attend the 1989 All Star game and wear this actual shirt?

You can see that the seller used the same listing #, however, basically removed the original contents and replaced them with yet another Schmidt jersey.

The Game Used Forum once again has provided an avenue to allow fellow collectors a voice to surface suspect and complete fakes.
