It's always good to hear of game-used items given to players, managers, and others with a team. Charlie Manuel was given a base with "1000" on it by his players after his 1,000th win. One assumes it was game-used, but it wasn't from the 1000th win itself, since it had the Phillies logo on it. (The 1,000th win was in Atlanta). I understand that a lot of hit balls from Chipper's last two months were given to him; at least some, if not all, had been authenticated by MLB.

The final ball from the Rangers' first-ever home postseason win was given to Nolan Ryan by a Ranger right after the game's end. He sent it to the MLB authenticator, who documented that he was taking Ryan's word for it on the ball's authenticity. I'm sure there are many interesting cases of MLB-authenticated game-used items being given straight to players and others.
