Steiner Stickers with numbers?

Question, when did Steiner start using numbers on there stickers? I'm starting to notice in the past few months on Ebay, game used items with an oval Steiner sticker squared on the top with numbers? Since I live close to the Steiner store on Long Island, I get to visit them a lot and was told that they never used numbered stickers in the past but they where going to produce a new sticker in the near future. Is this the new sticker?

I have a Juan Pierre bat from the 08 season which has a numbered Steiner Holo that I purchased years ago. I believe they use to use numbered holo's for game used stuff a few years back. You could even verify the number up on their website. They have since taken that capability away.

If that's the case then why not continue to use it? I can't stand that either their stickers nor their COA cards don't have a number or at least type what they're signing on that COA for the money they make.
