I'm just guessing that it's the Cleveland Indians.

That's what I thought, but I am almost certain they did not wear this style.

Well there are only a few teams with C in the majors. I guess the next step is to go to college teams?

I believe this is a Chicago White Sox cap from the late 30s to early 40s.

The style with the white outline may have been worn in another season of seasons. If you do a google search of the White Sox from the late 30s to early 40s you do find them wearing hats with this style of C.

Looks like it was used as a road/alt cap from about 1941-48..

The problem with the White Sox theory being that this cap is from 1953.

This was a one year tagging style for McAuliffe, only used in and around 1953.

Maybe it was a minor league hat.
Looks almost like a Columbus Red Birds hat but I don't think the C is made the same.
