Terry Crowley 1982 LVS Bat Barrel Oddity

Last month on eBay I picked up this Terry Crowley professional model bat signed by the 1982 Orioles (I was able to determine that it was signed in April of that years since Jose Morales had signed it and he was traded to the Dodgers on 04/28).

Anyways in looking at it the other day, I noted that while the LVS center label is consistent with that time frame, there is no bat Model number next to the wording "Genuine" on the barrel above Crowley's contract signature (the knob doesn't have any stampings as well).

Has anyone seen anything like this or have an explanation?

Thanks for any input you could lend.
