I haven't yet found examples from 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 or 2008.

It would be interesting to come up with a rough estimation as to how many are out there.

I seem to remember seeing a photo of it being on display there but I could be mistaken. Often times players' Super Bowl jerseys end up on display at the Hall of Fame.

For what it's worth interjecting, I did see two practice jerseys one of which I owned for a short time.

They were legit as the sleeve length was corrected.

I also have Peyton helmet that I know is real, but his stuff is so few and far between whatever it happens to be.

MeiGray registered and photo-matched a jerssey that originated from the PeyBack Foundation that Manning wore vs. the SD Chargers on Dec. 18, 2005.

It is MGS No. 141809, and is owned by a private collector. So add that to the list.

It varies...depending on the era, the player, the team, etc.

I suspect that Peyton wore fewer gamers earlier in his career. Now there are exclusive contracts for game worn memorabilia, so the number has likely increased.

It seems as though the PeyBack Foundation offered a number of examples from the 2004 and 2005 seasons. I haven't seen much from his other seasons with the Colts.

I'm not sure what the value would be in respects to helmet vs. jersey.

From my research, I have not yet found an example of a PeyBack Foundation jersey since the 2005 season. NFL Auction and Panini Authentic appear to be the sources of the most recent examples made available for public sale.

No offense to Ken at Goldin Auctions, because they never stated that it was a Game Worn Peyton helmet...it was a Game Worn Colts helmet signed by Peyton, and the UDA COA states that as well. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that was my take on the helmet...

I'm in no way a Peyton helmet expert, but read your post and looked at the Goldin Auctions lot and it has his number, #18, on the helmet? Doesn't that link the helmet to him then? I agree that the UDA COA doesn't state it's a "game worn Peyton" helmet from that perspective.

Look at the rear bumper decal...this is for a VSR-4 helmet, this decal isn't even cut in the proper outline of the Revolution bumper. There are no velcro coins inside of the helmet to hold the speakers, at least as far as I can tell. There should be two black velco coins just above the ear holes. (getty images 2859195, 1748331). I also would need to see the helmet again to see if it had the proper strips in the crown for battery and receivers. This helmet doesn't have the original chinstrap that Peyton used, but he was known for holding his "broken in" chinstraps in high regard, and rarely wanted to part with them. This helmet bumped around EBay for years...again, I am in no way implying that anyone was misleading with any descriptions. I believe the UDA description clearly states what this helmet is. I commend Ken Goldin on being able to run some of the most profitable auctions that I have seen, and I intend on consigning future items to him.

The description of the lot is "

To me, that makes it sound like a game used Peyton helmet. That being said, I agree the UDA cert spells it out that it is a colts game used helmet that Peyton signed. I hope the buyer inquired with Ken before making the bid.

That helmet did bounce around quite a bit. I always wondered why, to most it's a "grail" so alot of people did buy / sell / trade that particular piece around.

Economy driven, perhaps.....but I'd like to think any person making that 10k or the 20k Ebay listing price investment would hold onto it.

Now, just some things of note that bothered be about that helmet in auctions past. One, the "Colts" bumper as prior pointed out. The use of the helmet, without many marks on the mask was also an issue for me. Both sides of the helmet seem to have heavy marks, the facemask seems absolutely new.

While the angle of the helmet makes it look worse, if you notice the horseshoe seems to be really off alignment, using the vent holes as reference it's significantly higher on the right.

I'd never seen photos of this helmet I didn't feel were color corrected. I was always left with an impression the horseshoes and helmet stripe were slightly different shades of blue which may be most concerning.

1-2 imagine. With Peyton I would think more like one since he's particular about his equipment..ie..chin guard etc

I ask this because the manning helmet used at the end of the 2003 season, playoffs was already auctioned and continues to be in possession from before the Goldin auction and after. The one in the Goldin auction also claims to be from the 2003 season. Which can def be true.

To jump back for a second on the Peyton helmet from the Goldin auction (surprised they havent commented), I typed in the cert on the helmet they listed. http://sports.upperdeck.com/memorabilia/hologram.aspx?hid=BAJ19187 then I clicked image. I noticed in the goldin auction the helmet had wear around the signature. But when I click on "view image" and see no wear in the picture of the helmet they certified.

Imagine if he takes your team to the SuperBowl, or sets the all time single season TD record, or passing yards? All 3 are very possible...Then it will probably become the most debated topic of all time. Ok, here's my GU Peyton Manning helmet from the 2004 season. Have all the coa and from Mr. Manning himself.
This is Riddell "revolution" model which can clearly be seen under the colt sticker. It has the American flag sticker and the "P.K." black cross memorial decal for Father Patrick Kelly who was the team chaplain. It was used in their 3 playoff games that season.
RKO18 says that he has yet to see a photo matched helmet. I would like his and others thought.

Today, Peyton Manning broke Tom Brady's single season record for touchdown passes by throwing his 48th, 49th, 50th and 51st today against the Texans.

The Texans' have a bad record but their pass defense was ranked 2nd best in the NFL...before today at least. Manning added 400 yards, 4 touchdowns and 0 picks.

Looks like it's going to be Manning's 5th NFL MVP, making him the only player to be named MVP with two different teams.

I wonder what's going to happen to his jersey from today's game? I'm guessing it's going to Canton, OH.
