Will Clark 1986 Wilson Road Rookie Jersey?

I know there have been some questionable Will Clark rookie jerseys on ebay before, and they were discussed here:

Wes at first glance I thought the away/home 86 Giants jerseys had the uniform number and year swatch. The Clark appears to only have the year swatch under the Wilson tag.

If it is legit, it's an extra jersey prepared for Clark. The year tag is a legit Wilson tag, and he did take a 42 his rookie year. However, without seeing it, I couldn't say whether it was made FOR Will or turned INTO a Will.

Where the tagging looked OK, I was concerned about the name lettering on the nameplate. I have a rookie Clark that I got from Dick Dobbins and in comparing the two, the letters are not the same. In the eBay one, the "K" does not have the slant and the "R's" hole looks too big and the "C" is too long on the upper side. I double checked it against Roger Craig's jersey name on Getty Images.

The numbering and lettering are correct. This jeresey was numbered and lettered by McAddam sports who did a lot of the numbering and lettering for the Giants. Lon wrote a great post about these jerseys in a earlier post. This jersey was sent to Lon for inspection.

If your claim is fact and not theory, then this would substantiate Dave's comment that this was an "extra jersey prepared for Clark".

You can find the link by searching prior post about the Will Clark rookie jersey. The jersey came from a Giants employee along with many other great items in which many were photomatched.

Dan, I received the jersey today. On the surface, the jersey has all of the characteristics of a 1986 road Will Clark "fill in" jersey ( used between the size 44 jerseys and the subsequent jerseys received from Wilson tagged 22 86 ) The tagging, size, name and numbers( that apprear to have been made by McAdams Sports) and minimal launderings. The jersey appears to have had no name or number changes. The problem I have with this particular jersey is in the time line of when and how it was aquired. We have already discussed the disposition of the size 42 " fill in " jerseys and given that it's hard for me to say that this is a game used Clark jersey from early '86 that was held onto in order to give it to your source over a year later, I will be terming this jersey an "unable to authenticate" which means that in my opinion, it's not something that I can say with 100% certainty was or was not game used. I will tell you however, that I think that any paid authenticator would give it a game used status . I will be returning the jersey to you tomorrow ( Tuesday) via USPS Priority mail w/ conf.
