    Thanks

While nameplates are not usually found on jerseys from this era, in 1981 the White Sox recycled many jerseys due to a supplier issue with Capital Ace.

The White Sox decided to go with Sand Knit prior to the 1981 season for their new uniform design in 1982.

Capital Ace basically shut the White Sox out by not sending them any jerseys for the 1981 season.

I have a jersey from 1981 that not only has a nameplate, but also a number plate! They sewed a whole piece of material over the old number.

If the jersey you are looking at is for a player who was new to the White Sox in 1981, I would actually pass on a jersey if it didn't have a nameplate.

Yes, in 1981 most of the Sox jerseys had nameplates.

I agree with most of the post, but, as a fan, I sat behind the White Sox bullpen many times in 1981, and a pitching acquisition, the late Lynn McGlothen, had a NOB on his home jersey(s) that was not on a plate.

I did a little more research and see that they did wear nameplates in 1981 on both he mesh and full fabric jerseys.

Thanks for all the info !
