This will never catch on. The people they listed in the article were hit in places this cap won't protect except one player...who stayed in the game after being hit in the head. The concept of this hat is nearly worthless and provides to many negatives to ever be a possibility.

Also the fact they interviewed Happ, who was seriously injured, and he said no way and that McCarthy, who nearly died, is weary of it should tell you how unpromising this idea is.

I would say this has more to do with lawyers and heading off potential future lawsuits.

Interested to see if the technology lands in college ball etc or other leagues with metal bats and a lot (potential earnings) on the line.
