removing marker from bat!?

i am interested in a bat that has magic marker writing on it. it is unfinished so the ink has soaked in. what have you guys used to remove the ink? sanding is out as that doesn't work well.

I know that the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser will pull marker off a normal bat but not sure about an unfinished bat.

I would test any removal method on a very low value bat first, since chemicals will always interact with the wood/finish, if they're strong enough to remove the ink. Either it will appear doctored under different lighting conditions or the finish itself will be damaged.
