Hi everyone,

I typically just stick to hockey, but a family friend brought me this jersey and he's wondering if it was worn by Javier Baez during Spring Training. According to the documentation that came with the jersey, it was originally purchased at the 2014 Cubs Convention in January 2013 and was used by Baez during spring training in 2013. Based on the images that I've researched, the button placement on the front of the jersey does not match Baez's jersey during spring training in 2013. Dae-Eun Rhee, a pitcher, wore #70 during spring training in 2012.

So, my question is...is there any way to attribute this jersey to Javier Baez? Do the markings on the Majestic tagging indicate a year that the jersey was manufactured?

Please let me know your thoughts and I appreciate any advice or guidance in authentication this jersey to determine what year it's from and potentially which Chicago Cubs player wore it.

Thanks!

Casey

EDIT...purchased at the 2014 Cubs Convention in January 2014, not 2013.

Thanks,

Casey

If that was purchased on eBay then it was part of one of the mystery equipment bags that cubs authentics sold at the Jan 2014 convention GU auctions. I was hanging out with the guy at the auction that bought the mystery bag containing the jersey and he said he was posting it on eBay. I also recall seeing it listed on ebay. The cubs don't give you any information about the contents of the bags. So this was not sold at the convention as a Baez GU ST jersey. But, it came with other GU gear. Hope this helps.

Yes, the jersey was part of a mystery grab bag. Is there any way to date the jersey based on the tagging or button placement?

I don't care if it's a Javier Baez jersey or not, I'm just trying to give my family friend as much factual research as possible so he can make up his own mind.

Thanks again!

Here is the original eBay listing...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/251432835560

It's clearly listed as a Javier Baez game worn Spring Training jersey.

Is there anything to the 0780 and 0826X8 codes on the Majestic tag?

Thanks again!

Here is the original eBay listing...

The 0780 is a professional issue BP jersey code, like the 0062 has been for standard game jerseys since 2000.
