Photomatched Philip Rivers from NFL Auctions

I know a few have wondered if they'll ever see a recent-era NFL jersey that can be conclusively shown to be game-used. Check out the bloodstain on the front of the 1, and compare it to the Getty Image link below.

Piece of junk....okay, just use the number listed below.

      Image 72486599

Or go to Getty and punch in "chargers browns" and it's the third row down on the far right.

It is amazing to me how HYPE moves this industry, the guy who is the high bidder is out of Missouri and a major high bidder on various ebay auctions, he must have at least a $30,000 collection to what I know of. WOW.

$4,600+ for that jersey is nuts, what happens to the value if he never wins a super bowl? Even if he wins 2 super bowls, I find it hard to believe you make a significant amount of money on the jersey, you can't tell me that jersey would go up to $9,000 if he won a 2 super bowls. Maybe I am wrong but I don't think even Tom Brady jerseys go that high. Granted the buyer is more than likely not using the jersey as an investment just a collector's piece. The power of the NFl auctions COA is unbelieveable.

I don't know, $1200 for a Todd Heap Jersey seems reasonable to me...

This forum has discussed various dealers of questionable(and downright fake) NFL jerseys. I think collectors are willing to pay a premium and "finder's fee" for items with a LOA from NFL auctions. That photo-match is worth an extra 3 grand for the seller. The sellers of the crap NFL jerseys will continue to add value and price to the legitimate items. And yes, the game issued and pro-cut jerseys sold by NFL auctions will surface again with game wear. How about scanning getty for jersey photos with noticeable stains? Then buying the pro-cut from the same player, and let the grass stains (helmet burns, dirt, repair marks, etc.) do the talking.

I gotta say that jersey is cool. As far as collecting goes, getting an NFL jersey from NFL auctions with a photo match to the jersey is as good as it gets. From a dollars and cents standpoint I guess it is up to the buyer. The Chargers are one of the hottest teams around. Rivers is doing a great job. Those powder blue jerseys are some of the sweetest looking jerseys in the hobby. Put all this together and you have one hot auction. $5000 for that jersey is pretty crazy to me. But if the buyer has the dough and they want it then more power to them. Upswing for that jersey is there, but to me, I would spend that kind of money on a HOF piece instead. The prices for NFL HOF players jerseys is going through the roof. So if Rivers has that kind of career, the buyer is a genious. If not...oh well. Happy collecting.

I can't even recall seeing many photo-matches of NFL jerseys. I wouldn't be surprised to see this one hit 10k. With all the things working for this jersey right now. Eric, what do you think about this one? You know Charger stuff well. Doesn't someone on here own a LT powder blue gamer?

I have an LT powder blue gamer from NFL auctions which now seems like a bargain. The Rivers has a chance to go higher than the LT.

The original thought I had in my head for the Rivers was that it would reach 5k. But now with a day left it wouldn't surprise me to see 7k or $7500.

Like you have all said, it's a hot team, a young guy, the sweetest jersey design, nfl provenance and a photo match. I think if someone wants to pay the money for it, it's a pretty nice piece.

Over 6k now. Interesting note in that the current high bidder also won Rivers throwback helmet from that game for $3,905 a few weeks ago on NFL auctions. LaDainian Tomlinson dirty pants from game are also up. Those look like they could be photo matched.
