    Equipment Blunders

I wanted to start a fun thread and this seemed like a good idea...

I didn't find a similar thread so here it is! I only collect Chicago Bears so I can only contribute what I collect. Here are two that I've seen:

Curtis Conway was spotted wearing his sleeve numbers on his shoulders during the October 23rd, 1994 game at Detroit.

Patrick Mannelly wore a jersey with his name plate a bit off during the October 10th, 2010 game vs Caroline Panthers:

With Samets being a Bears fan and collector, I wanted to share a blunder in my collection of a Birmingham Americans (WFL) road jersey of former-Bears linebacker Ross Brupbacher. They forgot to include the "p" on the nameplate!

The Americans wore this fishnet style jersey on the road (wore white at home) during the early part of the season in the summer months before switching to mesh in the second half of the season as the weather cooled.

note the misspelling of the Bill Ripken Worth game used bat that he used in 1987 Spring Training:

I don't have a photo, though I remember a Cubs-Giants game at Wrigley Field in 1977 where the Giants were wearing their 1-yer style orange jerseys with city name on the front and Rob Andrews' gamer had a city name that read "SAN FRANCICSO".

The Washington "Natinals" jerseys come to mind. My favorite...

Image link didn't work, but the link shows the jersey.

In my collection, I have an Ellis Burks's Red Sox road gamer with "Burkes" on back.

Former major league player Dane Sardinha played independent league baseball here in Hawaii last year. I was the official team photographer & I got the following photo during the same at bat. The front of the jersey shows #27 while the back has #24. He wore the jersey for the first 3 games until the new one arrived.

Actually you are incorrect, the jersey was never worn and the jersey Patrick is wearing agaibst Carolina is how you really spell his name!!! If you did you homework you would know that MANNELLY is the correct spelling. The owner of that jersey was notifyed about this and was shown video evidence from NFL rewind that this jersey was never worn in a game, In any Oct BCA GAME for that matter. He still refused to change the listing from game used to game issued!!! At best its another piece of NFL auction misleading junk as the psa cert does say game worn! MANNLEY IS INCORRECT. A Bears Expert would know thus though.

Sure hope you didn't buy that junk? I almost got suckered in on it until I realized the spelling was off and watched rewind from every game at home that montg. Beautiful Jersey and a cheap 400 price tag. Was in the kill zone until I realized it was a disaster. Woulda been a cool error Jersey find and conversation piece if it was actually worn in a game and the bears equipment manager didn't catch it!!! I think it could be worth more money like that especially if it was a big name player like Urlacher, better then an error card! Thoughts???

The Jersey you have was supposed to be worn in the 10/10/10 game, didn't the alarm go off when you seen pics from the actual game and your jersey was not the one actually worn???? That should of been a dead giveaway? He didn't switch Jerseys at halftime either if you were wondering.... You kind of made an oxy moron.....

If the names didn't match up why would you think yours was worn? I'm kinda baffled at that fact? You say he wore the wrong jersey in the pic from the game, so when was yours supposed to be worn? I'm confused...... jim bandit was willing to go 300 on it but it was garbage!

                              Net0,

The jersey was spotted on eBay and was not purchased or acquired by me, my family or any of my friends or their friends (as far as I know). If it was something I was interested in, I would take the time to photomatch it first but since I was chasing a different jersey, I skipped this one and don't spend time photomatching jerseys I'm not interested in.

I'm glad you did your homework on it and didn't get burned.

And this is why kids you do your homework before spending your hard earned money! Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I'm sure next time this jerseys surfaces, more collectors will know that it's a dud!

I am thankful for the many tools we have these days to aid the collectors with identifying real game used jerseys since we can not trust NFL Auctions to provide us with 100% legit jerseys.
