34.25" 34.5 ounce bat from 1990. Bat is uncracked, has pine tar, rack marks, and a few ball and seam marks.

"34" was originally written on each end in writing consistant with the equipment managers hand. Was later changed to "Bo" and "16". Assuming when Chris Codiroli showed up in September and wore the number 34 the equipment manager changed the ends.

Price is $500.

Is the Jackson uncracked? If so I may have interest...

I guess I am not understanding why the bat would have 34 on it to begin with. Was Bo wearing number 34 when he was first called up or in 1990?

I am wondering the same thing. Bo only wore #16 with KC.

Was the #34 ever resolved for an explanation? As others pointed out, he wore #28 with Sarasota (1987) and wore #16 during his years with Kansas City. It wouldn't make sense for him to be temporarily assigned #34 in 1990 only to be given back #16 during the same season.

A more logical explanation would be Bo gave the bat to someone wearing #34 in 1990 (McWilliams, Encarnacion, or Codiroli), and then signed the bat for them when they left the team, but all three players who wore #34 in 1990 were pitchers with no plate appearances.

This is a strange item, and it'd be cool if anyone can render some insight as to why it would have the 34/BO markings.

Adding to the confusion, did Jackson even mark his bats on the knob/end?

The bat on the left is a 36" 34 ounce Bo J93 from 1986-89, most likely 1989. Notice the "3" matches the shape of the letter "B" on the other bat. There is no doubt that "Bo" was written over the number "34" on the bat. It is likely that the same person wrote on the nob of both bats. I assume it was the Royals equipment manager.

My guess is the person who wrote "34" was messing with Bo. After all Bo wore 34 while playing for the Raiders and the Chiefs and Raiders are AFC division rivals. There are plenty of images on Getty of Bo using a cupped bat in 1990, likely this model.
