I don't think Kenny ever wore a size 48!
Sure looks like it was Ben Francisco's jersey and Kenny Lofton signed it.
Any thoughts?
Ben usually wears a 46 and from the Lofton I own it is a 44.
Thanks,
Andy

The Lofton was originally owned by dcgreg25 and came direct from the Indians.

I have seen a 2001 Indians Lofton game used jersey with a size 48. I have also seen a 2002 White Sox Lofton game used jersey with a size 48.

Andy,

Please note the following forum rule:

In instances where a forum member is identifying an item in the hobby they believe to have issues, the poster should clearly state their findings in the form of an opinion and provide adequate rationale for why they believe there is an issue. When possible, we recommend that the poster questioning an item attempt to contact the seller of the item and allow at least 24 hours for the seller to reply before posting. This will prevent postings that may be generated based on misunderstandings of an item. In addition, while this forum is designed to help educate collectors, we will not allow comments that accuse entities in the hobby of participating in any form of criminal wrong-doing. Any posts suggesting criminal wrong-doing should be brought to the attention of the moderators immediately.

If you had read the forum rules, this thread would not have been created and it probably would have saved you the embarrassment of publicly making a statement that is factually incorrect.

Thank you in advance for your future compliance to the forum rules.

Sincerely,
Chris

Embarrassment is a pretty strong word . Takes a lot more then asking a question to embarrass most people. Maybe my use in an exclamation mark was in poor taste and that I understand .
Thanks for your concern though and thanks for the information.
Thank you Phil and randy for your information.

Based upon how I read Chris' post, the embarrassment would be related to your statement that the jersey was a Francisco jersey that Lofton signed, based upon your Lofton jersey being size 44..

It was later pointed out that there are at least three verified instances of a Lofton jersey being size 48, with the specific one in question coming directly from the team. Generally, team provenance is considered first degree, so many put it into the same category as receiving the item directly from the player. Since the chain of custody was verified, it adds that the item up for sale is a legitimate one.

I agree that you that there probably wasn't any embarrassment, since you did ask for others' thoughts after stating what you believed to be correct. It's not like you came out and said something was fake and later were proven wrong by the originating party. :) Now, THAT might be embarrassing.
