Question,
With so many questions about all of the jerseys that were sold I wonder what drove the prices ??? Just a question.

john,

fantastic question. what causes someone to pay over $2300 for a pujols jersey that is clearly doctored? or over $1000 for a store model rose jersey? the rose jersey probably cost around $70 back in the day. the autograph could be obtained for $80. that's a $150 jersey that someone paid over $1000 for. why?

john, as you can see by the number of bids on some of the historic jerseys, it doesn't take many people to raise the amounts to those levels. the rose jersey only had 4 bids. i have to think that out of the thousands of people involved in this hobby, there are at least 30 who are completely clueless, have thoroughly failed to educate themselves, and have not found this forum. it looks like historic managed to attract those 30. there's a sucker born every minute right? if hundreds of people can seriously respond to emails promising them millions of dollars from a nigerian king, then i have no doubt that someone out there will pay $1000 for a store model jersey.

certain people can continue to operate as they do, but when the FBI eventually get involved, i wouldn't want to be in their shoes. is anyone really stupid enough to think this is more than a short term game and that the clock isn't eventually going to run out? the clock always runs out on these things. the smart ones know it's a quick pump-and-dump. the stupid ones think it's a sustainable way of doing business and they're the ones who end up like skilling and fastow.

Honestly, I'm surprised that the NFL and Reebok and the NFL Players association legal teams have not gotten involved yet.

Someone is constructing jerseys made from Reebok products, representing them as something that they are not to make money based on the Players' names, representing products from the NFL.

If someone was modifying Ford cars and selling them as a higher model, you better believe Ford would step in.

There's a whole lot wrong here.

Let me be more specific
If I were the Indianapolis Colts, Peyton Manning, The NFL, The NFL Players Association, Reebok or the FBI I would probably want to know who is making money off these Manning jerseys with the incorrect sleeves which match ZERO game photos.

Tick tock fraudsters, it's only a matter of time...

You can ignore all of our questions, but once those high priced attorneys start knocking at your door, you're going to have to tell them something.

eric,

i find the specific case of the short-sleeved manning particularly interesting. let's forget, for a second, that the authenticator behind that specific manning admitted on this very forum that he couldn't put his name behind his own short-sleeved manning.

i've completely documented every single game manning has played in for 2 different seasons. never did i come across a photo of him wearing short sleeves. yet someone out there is going to pay $2k of their money on a short-sleeved manning. here's what i find interesting; one, that someone is prepared to drop $2k without doing any research whatsoever. it's got to be the absolute height of idiocy. however, i guess they're suffering the consequences. they'll be out $2k and they'll have a short-sleeved manning in their closet. two, where were these people in this auction?:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250060883136

bmart1616 has tons of these things. have these historic bidders not heard of ebay? if they want a short-sleeved manning why wouldn't they just pick one up off ebay for about $1800 less? clearly they do absolutely no research so what's the difference? they'll buy a short-sleeved manning from historic for $2k but not from ebay for $100?

on an odd note, for some reason bmart1616 keeps the bidder id's private only on his auctions for shortsleeved manning jerseys. on all of his other auctions, the bidder id's are revealed. turtlegrrl18 made 4 purchases from bmart1616 and all of those specific purchases/auctions are private. prosportsinvestments/psi/bernie gernay also purchased from bmart1616 and that purchase/auction is private.

Rudy - I hope their judgment day comes soon! PT Barnum must be laughing right now.

I don't want to change the direction of Eric's orginal Post but I can't resist to show you these 2 auction results.

Next to that Carson Palmer price on Historic, you have to decide why 2 recent buyers bought 2 Jeter Yankees (Non-Steiner) that both had LOU LAMPSON COA's and one was on Mastronet and the other on Historic as they both just ended. On Mastronet w/ a pair of pants the buyer paid $5,407.20 and on Historic $2,070.97. Both of these jerseys came with no provenance. No trail as to how the consignor got these since they didn't come as "Game used" thru Steiner. No, you just get the LAMPSON COAs.

i have a family memeber in law inforcement who i was talkin to about the jerseys in historic auction and he stated that the best thing to do would be to make one master list with disciptions, links, ending prices, back ground on the case, and photo matches that show the issues with the jerseys and send it to the FBI branch in Clearwater/Tampa Florida. with the amount of money in the jerseys listed above alone he stated they would strongly look into it. They would also be the best starting point and would contact the nfl and reebok as well about the case. i suggest that we start a thread "offical case aginst historic auctions" listing only the fact about each jersey in question with photo matches so we can all bring justice in this case.
