Don't remember ever seeing a team auction off the rights to a license plate before. In my opinion it's a cool concept and an awesome way of generating money for charity.

im pretty sure some NFL teams have done this previously--either Skins or Ravens
they went for pretty big money from what i can recall

There was a MLB that did this a couple months ago...can't recall what team.

The state of South Carolina issued a limited number of special plates honoring the Gamecocks' two straight national baseball championships. I don't recall the financial details, or whether any were auctioned.
