First pick up is a Goldin pick-up...Jean Segura 2012 Travelers jersey. I have really wanted something Jean Segura so I was happy to get it. Though Minor League stuff isn't all that appealing to me so not sure how long it will stay in my collection

My second item of the month is a beauty for me. Jonathan Lucroy's mitt from the 2013 season(also signed). Two of its biggest events were probably being used in the World Baseball Classic and catching the ball to finally give K-Rod his elusive 300th save.

I passed on his 2012 mitt a while back and it literally kept me up at night I regretted it so bad. When I found this one I snatched it up quick.

So here is to MLBs best catcher at framing pitches:

Derek Jeter Game Used bat from 2010. Won from Goldin Auctions, graded GU10 by PSA and Photomatched from Sept 28 2010 to Oct 3 2010. Collecting 8 hits #2,918-#2,926. It may have been used on the Sept 27th for an additional hit, but I haven't found any images. On the 28th the Yankees clinched a playoff spot, which would be the last playoff for the Core 4.

I collect sports as well as art and when those two worlds cross, it makes it even that much better :D I recently had the opportunity to add to my collection a Max bat that was painted by Hillary Werth (Jayson Werth's sister). She's really cool and is a really awesome artist...check her out on facebook/twitter. I had to wait a little while to actually have the bat in my hands because of her going on a media tour with it. Love it!

Hey Guys! So I have had a few recent pickups over the last couple of weeks from my first O's games that I attended. I attended the O's vs Royals game on 4/27 and all of the Astros series this weekend. Here are some of my pickups:

As many of you know I am a big Jose Altuve fan. I have posted several times trying to get a Jose Altuve hit ball. I was hoping that I would be able to get one from the three game series this weekend. Even though he had six hits in the series, not one made it to the MLB authenticator. If it weren't for bad luck trying to track down a hit ball of his I would have no luck at all. The year plus hunt continues. I did pick up the two Altuve related baseballs that did get authenticated. The first one is from 5/10 and is a fly out in the top of the 1st. The ball shows good use and has the 60th Anniversary logo. The second one is from today's Mother's Day game and was a ball in the dirt in the 6th. My labeler ran out of else I would have a label on the case. I have wanted a Mother's Day ball for some time and to have one related to one of my favorite players is just a huge plus!

I also am a huge Jonathan Schoop fan. I was able to obtain a couple of authenticated balls from him. The first one is his 2nd ever career hit by pitch on April 26, 2014. The second one is an RBI single from the game on 5/9. This was his 28th career hit and 14th career RBI. The good folks at Art of the Game believe this is the first authenticated hit ball of his this year, at least from his home appearances.

Probably the most interesting one of the bunch is a Nick Markakis single from the 5/9/14 game. This was hit in the bottom of the 1st to extend his current hit streak to 16 games. This was his 1,411th career hit.

The last one is a Norichika Aoki single from the game on April 27th, 2014. This was his career hit 346.

The last item is the Mother's Day base from today's Astros vs. Orioles game. It's a really cool item and I really like the pink jewels that they use in the bases. In addition, the other two jewels have the Orioles 60th anniversary logo. It goes well with my 2012 base that has the Camden Yards 20th anniversary logo jewels.

Thats all for now, keep posting your items everyone!

Yea O's stuff is usually more pricey than average teams. If it weren't for me wanting one Oriole related pretty bad, and one that had some sort of Jose Altuve connection, I wouldn't have paid it.

Yeah... perhaps the Reds had bought some, and he ended up using it. Who knows. :D It does look a lot better than the Stepback Antique's bat that was bought at a thrift shop for $10: Right labeling, completely wrong characteristics.

1. GU MLB Auth baseball Brandon Moss 2 RBI Double vs Texas on Aug 2 2013
2. Line Up card from a Los Angeles Angels vs Oakland A's game played on July 15 2011. I noticed who was batting 9th for the Angels. looked it up on my phone and it is the game that Trout drove in his first run
3. Not really game used but an Astros 1st year in the AL ball that the bullpen catcher threw into the stands(the whole bullpen ball bag was full of them and they also were using them for batting practice)

Interesting shoes. I'm not even sure of "how" that would be done with Sharpie pens, due to the shading. Looks more like airbrush, IMO. Either way, I would think they're illegal, since the images used are copyrighted.

And they're aren't illegal shoes. It's a commissioned piece of artwork. They're not sold in stores. The guy does it as a hobby from what I gather. They're 100% done with Sharpie. That's his whole gimmick.

Unless Mr St Clair received permission from Hillerich & Bradsby, at least one of the images used for the shoes was done so in violation of copyright law. I'd assume none of the images used were done with permission of the copyright owners, so I sustain that they're illegal. I'm not saying the shoes themselves are knockoffs or something similar. I'm saying that the use of copyrighted property without permission of the copyright owner would be deemed illegal. It's a good thing he hasn't chosen to do any images of "Prince" or "The Artist" or "'The Artist,' formerly known as 'Prince'" -- I'm pretty sure he'd be receiving cease and desist notices, in that case.

Yes, I think the shoes look cool, and if that was done all in Sharpie (the fine point, not the ultra fine) pens, then that's even cooler. However, coolness and cache aside, the issue of copyright remains, regardless.

Come to think of it, the Red Sox reproduction would likely be without consent, as well, and therefore also in violation of their trademark rights.

So someone can't do a painting of Ted Williams holding an H&B bat, or a painting of a Red Sox logo and give it to someone as a gift without fear of being prosecuted by either company? Even if that may be accurate, who cares? The artist wouldn't care about a cease & desist anyways because these are a complete one-off. I appreciate your point & concern, but I'm not worried. The Sox know how to get a hold of me if they have a problem.

That's incorrect... You think Campbell's sued Andy Warhol? Artists can do what they want. Daniel Moore has been sued by Alabama for painting "greatest moments" for years, with logos etc. and selling prints. The university keeps loosing and looking stupid.

For the H&B part of it, that's not the point. For the Red Sox one, I believe they could be prosecuted, but the Red Sox would be unlikely to do so unless the individual started making more than their attorney fees would be in pursuing the case.

Back to the H&B issue. The problem is that the image of DiMaggio kissing the bat is from the H&B archives. H&B (and possibly the photographer, as well) have a right to claim theft of intellectual property.

And is this the place to talk about copyright laws? I thought i was a place to discuss cool pickups, not bs nonfactors.

Theft is theft. Stealing someone's work and profiting from it would be no different than stealing someone's collection and selling it. I don't think it's a "bs nonfactor," as you've chosen to name it.

Hank Aaron 714th HR game used baseball -

Used on Opening Day in Riverfront Stadium - Cincinnati (April 4th, 1974), so sort of a Big Red Machine collection item, but more importantly the game when Hank Aaron hit his record tying 714th home run in his first at-bat of the season.
Hank Aaron, to me, is the true Home Run King.

The true KING to me as well. My dad came home from work to watch the game on tv that day. Hank waited for me to get home from school to hit HR714. It was awesome to be able to watch the home run.

I was able to check this bat out in person and was really impressed with the amount of use that it showed. And I've been wanting to reacquire a bat of this Pittsburgh legend, both because of the type of on-field player he was and also his humanitarian efforts off the field. He may be the most influential hispanic player from that time period in overall impact.

Went to a few Tennessee Smokies (Cubs AA) games this week & ended up coming home with a few nice home run balls. First is a Kris Bryant home run ball signed & inscribed "#13 HR", second is a home run ball hit by diamondbacks prospect Jon Griffin who hit 5 home runs in 5 consecutive at bats breaking the all time MiLB record. This is the ball from the 5th & record breaking home run which was shown on ESPN & MLB Network. I'm sure some would disagree with my choice to get them both signed & inscribed, but I think it adds more meaning to them!

I wouldn't say $330 for a Corey Seager gamer is crazy... I would have likely offered up to $500 if I were there. He's a good kid with a nice skill set... and that jersey is simply cool. As for Urias... I don't know. Isn't he supposed to have a ceiling of a #3 starter? That seems a ridiculous price for a #3 starter, let alone someone with a ceiling of one.

I bid 330, winner won at 350, I could see we were going to fight each other for a bit on the bids. Seager is a beast, I hate dropping that much on a one time worn jersey but it would have been cool to meet and get pics with him.

I was also bidding on Chris Anderson until his mom basically told me she wasn't going to lose the jersey, I was nice and quit in the 200's
