Any 60's football helmet help with a possible MSU Helmet

Found a person who was wanting to trade this possible late 1960s helmet. From the study I did, it seems MSU wore gray facemasks around this time but not sure if this style mask was available in gray. Seller acknowledged stickers are new as he said none were on when he received the helmet. Not sure how to tell if was an MSU helmet or if a way without original stickers.

Thanks for any help! Also if it does seem legit what a possible value range? I never dealt with helmets this old. Thanks again for any help! Would be great for my MSU collection if its real

Good morning Jason, I'd check with Curtis at Helmet Hut…he's the best source I've found re these older suspension helmets…others on this board too could opine. Value…how rare and how desirable for your MSU collection drives this question….Curtis has several suspension helmets posted on eBay…look at his Army one and another college gamer…would give some indication as to value. This would be a nice one for your collection!

      Perlman9,
I agree with Tom that Curtis at Helmet Hut (check out the MSU game used section too) is a great source and that the value is probably more of a personal decision.
If the seller has some sort of provenance that ties it to MSU it would weigh heavily in my opinion on its value. In any case it appears to be a very nice vintage, 60's Riddell RK with factory painting and stamping intact as well as period appropriate mask. BTW, I also think the mask is correct as MSU used the ivory colored plastic masks (made by Adams I believe) as well as the grey Schutt masks. Hope that helps and good luck

Jason, see if there are number outlines on the bottom side off to the left and right of the center white stripe in the rear of the helmet. If it had numbers at one time you will see old sticker residue on the old lacquer paint. Look around the new decal also to see if an old outline from previous decal was there. Is there a number written inside with a marker anywhere or tape with a number on it???

Thanks for the help, everyone! I am going with photos only, Ladd, but will ask. Also heard from a fellow board member he was outbid on this helmet on ebay and didn't believe it to be a Sparty..

Hello, that MSU helmet is mine. Its a real game used helmet from the time. I got it from a guy who worked for the team back then. As for the mask, they indeed have these colors along with the black U-bar. CHECK out this picture from 64.

As for the decals, I added them on to make it look even better. The seller told me when I showed him the finished product that he remembers as a kid taking those same stickers off of the helmet because he didnt like them.

            Great old helmet.
