Help on this game used bat handle

Looking at buying a game used bat, but am trying to figure out if maybe the handle was taped or something else that would make a clean line between where it is light and then goes dark. Doesn't seem natural.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Idk about tape. It's a little difficult to make such a straight line when you tape a bat. Plus you would think over time the tape would deteriorate/move after some time using it making the line wavy.
Always looking for anything John Flaherty, Drew Storen and Marcell Ozuna game used.

Per the Players Request Bat was Not Fully Glossed-Probably didn't want the Handle Portion Slick for Better Grip and also Pine Tar Sticks better to the rough or unfinished portion of the handle.
When I Played I used to Shave my Handles Down with a Knife or a Key; Both for a better Grip and also a to get a Thinner Handle (Better Bat Speed)!
      Hope that Helps!

That line you see there is on several, several bats. Especially older ones. No red flag
