    The ridiculous Mike Olt

I saw that Mike Olt has hit his 10th HR of the season for the Chicago Cubs.

In 52 games this season, Olt has managed the following:

    9 singles
    3 doubles
    10 HRs
    15 Runs
    25 RBI

His abysmal .152 batting average could be explained away by luck, if we merely look at his BABiP of .154, but the reality is that his 36% strikeout rate is probably a more appropriate culprit.

It's obvious that Olt has trouble recognizing pitches, so he could possibly benefit from some extra time in the minors specifically to work on that.

The strangest example of sample size aberration is Olt's stats this season, when leading off an inning:

    4 singles, 1 double, 5 HRs, and 13 strikeouts in 36 ABs.

Mike Olt: The poster child for "There's a lot of swing and miss in that bat."
