    Glove Questions

I just picked up a Thome Glove and was going to take it to the national to get it signed. I have several questions. Ideally i would like to wait until he gets in the hall of fame so I could get that inscription but Thome does not sign much so I fear when his HOF tour comes around sigs will be closer to $300.

    1. What is the best pen and pen style to use on a glove?

    2. Where would be the best location on a 1st basemens mitt?

    3. Should I forgo said signing and leave it as is or would the signiture increase added value to my mitt?

    4. If i decide to get the signiture now what would be a good inscription? Not sure 600 hr's on a glove would be the ideal inscription. .988 career FLD%

Most importantly, what color is the glove? I would use paint pen personally but seeing the glove would definitely help in deciding what color/type pen is best.

I have had good success with black sharpies. If you use silver, get a good pen because silver fades on brown gloves. You have to go with silver or gold paint pens on black or dark blue gloves.

I would just get a signature and forgo inscriptions because it post dates the glove. If you have 1999 glove, why add HOF or a HR total? I like a signature and Thome has a nice one.

        Re: Glove Questions

its looking to be silver more than likely but there is brown around the webb. I will post a pic as soon as it arrives. There are a couple identical to it in the glove forum. Im assuming a fine point deco but this is my first glove i will be personally getting signed. My Chris sale glove already had the signiture. Im thinking about getting it around where his name is stitched in but i have seen some other first base mitts with a larger signiture on the back side that looks nice as well. I think for displaying purposes around the name is probably my best bet.

I doubt he'll sign it hof when he hasn't been elected yet.

That seems like a smart bet.

Sorry I misread your post. I thought when you mentioned hof, you were saying you were going to try to get him to sign it hof now instead of waiting 3 years.

Thanks for the photos and advice. I think I am going with the plain Thome signiture.
