    Is this a photo match?

Hello, I have never really tried to photo match anything but I purchased this Justin Morneau gamer and am trying to do so. I e-mailed the photographer to see if he would be willing to send another version of the photograph without the watermark on the barrel so I can see the markings better and am waiting to hear back. In the mean time, this is what I came up with. There is a clear spot near the end of the pine tar which I circled as well as the ball marks which are circled. Let me know your thoughts.

I think the photo is too small to be conclusive. MLB TV right now still has a trial that ends on the 10th so you can sign up and try to get better screenshots from the game

You should be able to get that picture through Photo File. Send me an e-mail, and I'll provide the contact information.

Go back to that image in Getty- they changed their watermark and it no longer covers the photo. It's added to the bottom.

Nevermind just checked on my phone. Sorry about that. Try ESPN's game recap for photos.

OK I'm not 100% convinced that it is the same bat. The knob is stamped 9-10-12. Using MLB.TV I watched his at bats from that date to the end of the 2012 season. I couldn't match the bat. If he used it in 2013, how long would he hang onto it before using it?

That's hard to say. I have bats that are dated in August/September 2013 but were used and broken this past June so it all depends on how frequent they use the same type of bat

Bump. My MLB.TV expired and I've had no luck. 99% sure it was not used in 2012. Anyone able/willing to help me match this. The bat is realitively clean with the only marks on the bat being the ones circled. I can provide more pics if someone is interested in helping me out.
                  Thanks.

I doubt a player would have kept a bat for nearly a year before using it. Morneau didn't join the Pirates until Sept 2013. Also, it seems that photo was against the Reds (20-22 Sept), so that would make it over a year. The other issue is that I'm fairly certain he's using BWP bats in photos as a Pirate. I don't know if BWP marks dates on their knobs or not.

The images from Getty don't appear to have any information on the knob, but it's entirely possible that the image resolution is simply too low to show that information.

The bat is a BWP and they do or at least this one does have a date stamp on the side of the knob rather than the top.
