I buy from Kruk cards every so often and I know they are as legit as they come, but I was wondering if this auction might be for a 2006 era jersey or older, instead of 2003. Correct me if Im wrong but judging by the cool base tag , didn't the cool base jerseys come out around the year 2006?

Correct, I believe the cool base gamers came out around 06. There were cool base BP's before that, but not a replacement to the double knits.

What I've found with Kruk is that due to their size and stock who ever lists on ebay makes mistakes, not a lot, but enough for an intermediately experienced collector to notice. Goes without saying they aren't doing anything funny or fishy that I can discern as the mistakes are often names or year used/issued.

On a separate note, they have recently changed their Mets jersey's to "issued but possibly game used", I gather that's because they've realized that the Mets made a ton of each jersey, going back as far as 2000 perhaps even earlier, and in the process sometimes even duplicated set numbers, hence the descrip change.

Looks like I'm a little late to chime in, but I wouldn't say this is anything more than a game issued or even a prototype jersey.

Steiner Sports had the exclusive Mets game used contract in 2006 and 2007. Anything that they didn't collect (possibly unused leftovers, extras, etc. remained with the team and ultimately found its way to Kruk). If the jersey was in fact from 2006 or 2007 (as someone chimed in earlier -- the first years of Cool Base), it would be issued.

To the best of my knowledge; however, I do not believe that the Mets officially wore Cool Base in this style until 2008. It is possible that some players tried it out the season prior, but I am not sure. I have handled enough 2007 Mets jerseys to know that they were knit jerseys. This is where I conclude that the jersey might be a prototype for the 2008 style (a year in which Glavine was not on the team). Also, the lack of an actual set tag may point this way too.

I can second this statement. Everything they are selling is directly from the team, and the legitimacy of the items should not be doubted. The addition of the "game issued and possibly game used" is a very good way of putting that they don't know exactly what they have and are certainly going more conservative than taking the quantum leap to the item having actual game use when in doubt.

Thanks for the info and great perspective on this jersey. I actually didn't win the auction, but whoever bought it, I believe got it for a reasonable price I guess. Ive been trying for a long time to get something of Glavine, but I ve always come up a little short in fundage to buy one.

I once had a 2007 Mets alt road black jersey for Aaron Heilman, and that was indeed cool base, so I believe the testing started in 2007. The jersey was also a SET 1

I did a little homework, and the Mets indeed wore Cool Base in 2007, but ONLY on black road alternates. All other jerseys worn by the club were knit: black home alternates, white home pinstripe, white home alternate and gray road. I suppose the black road set was a "trial" which ultimately stuck.

Are you 100% sure? I thought Ive seen a few white home's with Cool Base. Fairly certain it was 2007

Interesting! My 2007 white jerseys were knit jerseys. In fact, the 2008 set worn in Spring Training, which were manufactured in 2007 were knits too.
