Is there something I am missing on this Trout bat? I am guessing the reserve is up there, but why is bidding staying low?

Plus the fact there is no COA or authentication for it, and it might be a minor league bat considering the user's ID has "milb" in it.

That's a BP or spring training bat with the model being MT27 and not MT27* on barrel. The look of the tar and application looks a bit off too, as does the wrap of the tape.

Let me add that the MT27* bats were first delivered on Opening Day, so he could be seen using MT27 in first game or two since the new batch wasn't prepped for use yet. But with the inconsistent look of this specific bat and absent a rep letter or a team letter, I'd definitely pass on this one.

Hey Ben,

I saw that some of Trout's early game used bats don't have the "MT27*". Do you know when he first began exclusively using the "MT27*" bats for game use?

Thanks.

Hi Scott, you can say from within that first game or two this year that the MT27* model should be in place for use. It was the J143 model that you will see prior to that time for use. Also, in 2011 and 2012 they were a couple of Rawlings bats that saw use, very briefly though.

Well, the bat ended up selling for $2152. That is a lot of money for batting practice bat. My opinion is that this bat looks like it could've been used by Mike Trout during batting practice and then given to someone when they visited the clubhouse. The tape job and pine tar looks consistent with other bats that have been sold but it's definitely missing the "*" which would indicate the bat as one of his actual game used bats.

That is a surprising price as that bat had too many questions on it to be sure...
