Marcell Ozuna Pink Bat and MLB Authentication

A few weeks ago I purchased a Marcell Ozuna broken pink bat from MLB Auctions that was used for a pinch hit single against the Padres. I remembered that there was another pink Ozuna bat up for auction a few months ago. Today I watched the at bat on MLB.TV and Ozuna only saw two pitches and the first pitch was a ball. After the ball he never switched bats.

A strange error. Maybe the uncracked one was an issued bat that he didn't use, and the authenticator confused it with the other one. Or maybe he warmed up with both in the on-deck circle?

On MLB auctions there was an Eric Sogard Oakland pink GU bat, but he never even played in that game!

I saw that Marcell Ozuna pink bat on MLB.COM auctions and had questions about it. There was one bat that was previously sold on MLB.COM auctions back with the other bat listings. I took a picture of the 4 pink bats the authenticators collected to send back to MLB after the game in San Diego. I went down to collect bases after the game and got to see the four bats and take a picture. There were 2 Casey McGehee, 1 Marcell Ozuna and 1 Yasmani Grandal. All of these sold in the previous auction so I wasn't sure where that one came from.

I'm starting to feel lucky that I didn't win this auction….

I feel bad for the guy that paid $240. I'm pretty sure mine is real after seeing him break the bat.

The one in the original pink bat auction is the one that the MLB authenticators sent back to MLB. I was able to determine that by looking at my picture and seeing the placement of the MLB authentication sticker.
