John Wooden wore #13 for Purdue in 1932. I have been trying to date this warmup. I checked all the Purdue yearbooks and did not find a photo of this warmup. I was hoping that someone could tell me the date of this warmup using the Sand-Knit tag. Is there any chance that this could be as old as 1932 ? If so, could be a game worn John Wooden warmup !
Thanks, Andy

Spectacular item! The Sand-Knit tag is from 1953 or before. Sand-Knit moved from Chicago to Berlin, WI in 1953. My gut says it's from the 40s. A different tag was used in the 30s.
Still, a fabulous item. Let us know, where your research leads you. A yearbook archive would be your best bet. Good luck!

I Binged ZIP Code History and found this:

The postal service implemented postal zones for large cities in 1943. For example:
John Hancock

28 Prince St.

Boston 24, Massachusetts

The "24" in the example above is the number of the postal zone within the city.

The tag on your sweater says "Chicago 5, Ill." So that would date it between 1943, when they started using ZIP codes, and 1953, when the company left Chicago.

Great info on the zip code! Thanks for your help. Unfortunately it's not a "Woody" :)
