When did 2 sets of jersey's no longer become the norm in MLB?

Approximately, when did this occur and or was it a natural progression beginning when? Thanks in advance.

I would guess around 1990. I had difficulty getting more than one uniform
In the 80s from a player. In the 90s, my count increased.

For the most part, tle late 1980s/early 1990s would be accurate. I belive that is why MEARS designates 1987 at their point in time to implement the automatic A% grade for some items.

There were occasions before that where set numbers higher than 2 did show up occasionally appear. I have seen a smattering of set numbers as high as 4 on 1960-71 Cubs and White Sox flannels, for example.

I have a couple of gold Wilson Kansas City A's vests which are set 3 and set 4. By the way, I have never seen a white or green Kansas City vest from 1963. Did they wear them in 1963, or did they only have the gold vests?
