    Tony Gwynn Game Used Bat

This bat was used by another player along with Gwynn. Taube gave his buddy Zane a GU9.5, amazing.

    Nick -
What are the factors that you used to determine that the bat was used by another player?

      Hi Jerry,

Heavy use on the left barrel. Heavy tar and wear on the lower handle and heavy tar on the mid handle. None of these traits are remotely consistent with Gwynn bats from this era. Not to mention the touched up writing on both ends of the bats and the heavy wear on the knob- this was a bat that sat around a batting cage and was used by multiple players.
Tony would inscribe anything you asked of him when signing.

Thanks for the input on this, Nick. Has it become PSA/DNA policy to have neither Taube nor Malta sign the LOAs?

Just an update on this, spoke with John and we are going to agree to disagree on the bat- which is common in the world of grading. I do want to clarify that I am not accusing John of playing favorites or giving advantageous grades to Zane or anyone else. There are many bats which Zane currently has listed on ebay which I feel are graded rather conservatively, i.e. his Puckett bats.
