Beware of this Lou Gehrig bat! This sellers listing is very misleading! He states that the bat is a bin bat for Lou Gehrig. First off I have never heard the term bin bat used before in this hobby. This bat is a store model 100%!

I followed forum rules and messaged the seller before posting. I asked if there were inch marks on the knob. I then sent a follow up email because I found the listing they bought the bat from which showed the inch marks on the knob. I find it funny this seller pretty much used the same photos of the prior auction yet left out the image of the knob.

When I asked the seller how they can sell this as a bin bat and not a store model because of the inch marks on the knob. Here's what they wrote back.

Here's my second message. First one was asking if there were inch marks.

"Also how can you call this a bin bat possibly for lou Gehrig. I found the old listing and this bat has inch marks. Inch marks are store model bats! I've seen several bats like this in the past and none are listed as bin bats for lou Gehrig, they're listed correctly as store model bats."

And here's what he wrote back. "hello, please dont ever buy any of my bats.. it's a bat that was in the LS bin, the only difference is a $110, 000.00 .. "

Just thought collectors should know.

Here's the current listing and the old sale.

Just wanted to update cause the seller sent me another reply after I told him I plan on not buying any bats from him..

"youre not right and therefore youre not so smart!!... back in the 1920s they placed inch marks on bats that were Pro WOOD Pro models for your information! you obviously failed to do a little research, which you need to do more of, you may would had known that tid bit... ??? Hmmm??... though its ignorance like yours is why I do not disclaim every single tiny little detail known to man, I cant schoooooool all of you, you need to learn more and do your own homework... I have a 1927 bat with inch marks on it, the player was a rookie in 1925 and a nobody player to say the very least, Louisville Slugger did not make "store" models as your ignorance would say it was... "for a 2 year player" unless he was GEORGE Babe Ruth!!... so you are dead wrong and just another typical wannabe know it all!!! Its people like you that want a $110,000 bat for $8,000 or an $8,000 bat for $500 sorry to disappoint... go find a Gehrig straight 125 from circa 1925 that weighs 40 plus ounces for less than $10k... by the way to add some schooling... there are Lou Gehrig gamers (thats game used for your info) out there with inch marks on them which sold for over $275,000 before... why dont you Google it Mr. store model expert?? then leave me alone."""

I took his advice and did some google work. Well didn't take long to find that mears sold a bat just like this(same length, same time frame and pretty much the same weight). And they listed it as a store model/retail.

Thanks for sharing the seller's reply -- that's classic.

He has now added a photo of the knob to the listing.
