When I first heard of Maddux's 1992 Cy Glove being available, I was very excited. I had already invested in Legendary Auctions's fake 1992 Maddux glove and wanted to finally get an authentic one and add it to my 93'-98' glove collection.

After looking at it closely, renowned glove expert Dennis Esken told me that this is a diamond collection RM 90 retail glove, a 12" glove. Maddux used a tan 12 1/2" 1668 glove in 1992. PSA/DNA had already rejected this glove this year based on Esken's opinion even though Maddux signed it which appears to be his signature. His inscription? I don't know if its authentic. Anyway, the owner of the glove got a second "expert" Joe Phillips to authenticate it. I don't know much about Phillips, but I know Denny is the best glove man on the planet.
Getty images show a Wilson tan glove, much different from this glove.

I did contact Heritage Auctions and they are good responders. The thing that baffles me why Greg Maddux would inscribe that glove as his 1992 Cy glove. I will be asking him about it. Greg hates to have his gloves swiped for collectors. When he saw his 1994 in my hands, he demanded "names" from me. He usually hangs onto his stuff but occasionally gifted his stuff to fellow players who collect such as Schilling or stuff he doesn't wear or need to Andruw Jones who sells them for burgers and fries.

I just wanted to throw this out and get everyone's input. It brings up the point of whether you can trust an item that a player inscribes "game used"

Bahahaha as I love the Andruw Jones comment. That was brilliant writing.

In my opinion that 31 writing looks aufully fresh when compared to how much use is on this glove.

Heritage removed the Maddux glove from their auction listing. Kudos!

The autograph and inscription were also forged. We have a Maddux forger out there. FBI has been notified.
