Hi,
Is P72 35" OK for Ripken during 83-84 Labeling period without the Promotional bat issues?

Thanks
George

Hi George--

Here is the info re: 1983 and 1984 Model P72 bats shipped directly to Ripken Jr (Baltimore Orioles) for his professional use in 35 inch length:

1983

33 oz / Walker Finish - 48 bats
34 oz / Walker -12
34 oz / Hickory - 24
34 oz / Flame Treated- 24

1984

33 oz / Walker - 36
33 oz / Hickory - 18
34 oz / Flame Treated - 36

Although several bats consistent with the specs above were sent to BB Promotions and BB Miscellaneous in 1983 and 1984 they were very minimal in number, and additionally were ordered with specified weight, which make them presumptively for Ripken's use. The largest order of strictly promo bats during those two years was for one hundred Model R43 bats 33 inches in length sent to BB Miscellaneous on 10/18/83 with no specified finish (presumed Natural Finish.)

Good Luck.

Hi Scott--

Here is the info you requested re: 1983 Model P72 bats shipped directly to Ripken Jr (Baltimore Orioles) for his professional use in 35 inch length:

1983

33 oz / Walker Finish - 48 bats 2/17 (12), 3/21 (12), 5/24 (12),
8/18 (12)
34 oz / Walker - 12 bats 9/30 (12)
34 oz / Hickory - 24 bats 2/17 (12). 3/21 (12)
34 oz / Flame Treated- 24 bats 5/24 (12), 9/30 (12)

Note that the following 35 inch P72 Ripken Jr signature models were sent to BB Miscellaneous in 1983 with specified lengths and weights, therefore presumed to be for Ripken Jr's professional use:

1/18-- 34 oz w/ Walker Finish- 1 bat
1/19 -- 33 oz w/ Walker 2 bats (BB Promotions)
3/8 -- 33 oz w/ Walker 2 bats
9/22 -- 33 oz w/ Walker 1 bat
12/6 -- 34 oz w/ Walker 1 bat

Good Luck
