Mercado jersey numbers

I have a mets Russell Diamond collection game issue jersey with mercado on back and number 48....team history doesn't say he ever wore number 48...it's size 50 with 2" extra length . Was there another mercado ??

He played with Tidewater in 1991 and 1992 but was not called up.

Not sure how that solves the mystery. The fact that he was with the Mets AAA team in 91 and 92 doesn't really connect with the fact that the jersey in question is from 98.

Orlando Mercado's last year at any level was 94. This couldn't possibly be his jersey.

HECTOR Mercado however played for the Mets AAA team (Norfolk Tides) in 1999. I would bet the farm that this is HIS jersey.
