Montreal expos sleeve question

Pounced on this Montreal Russell as I could tell it was an authentic minus the jock tag was removed. My only question is why is the R on the sleeve solid blue? It's sewn in and not the cheap slap job the sub par jerseys used, but part if it should be red right?

Seller bought it at Modell's in Philly if that helps , did they sell retail authentics there?
