Posey bat on eBay not the same bat

The above Posey signed bat isn't the same bat that was sold by the Giants Community Fund:

The grain is different, the pine tar on the tape is different, the ball marks on the Giants bat are absent on the eBay bat, and the ebay bat has rack marks absent on the Giants bat.

Assuming the inscription is actually penned in Posey's hand, I assume the individual (not necessarily the seller, whom I haven't received a response from yet) who got the item signed took the LOA from the Giants and asked Posey if he would add G/U to it.

The part that makes the least sense in all of this is, why would Posey use an April 11, 2013 bat in 2014? Don't MLB superstars get new orders several times a year these days? It seems highly irregular that Posey would be using bats from over a year prior.

I really don't think the seller is at fault, as his other items seem legitimate and accurately described.

As to the signature, I've had a few game bats signed by Posey and he doesn't inspect the bat. He writes what he's told too. My guess is that since it was signed at a 2014 Tri-star show he just put 2014.

I also couldn't find the original MLB auction listing. The pic of it in the ad is too small for me to really see if it's the same bat. It looks like there may be some differences in the tape and the markings, but I can't tell for sure.

Miguel Cabrera used quite a few 2014 bats this year, I'd bet around half.

I'd be willing to wager that none of those were from the first batch order of the year, though. That's why I said it seemed highly unlikely. In any event, it seems the bat was used in 2013, and Posey simply wrote 2014, as another member said, since he signed in 2014.
