Hi,
I was recently looking through the current auction and the Terry Cummings All-Star game uniforms caught my attention. Instantly I knew that the red uniform
(lot 1115), supposed to be the 1985 uniform, could not have been worn in that years All Star game.
It is easy to research that the east squad, which Cummings was a member of, wore white jerseys as the home team. Additionally, it is a known fact that the NBA logo appeared on jerseys not before the 1986-87 season.
So I took a look at the other uniform offered (lot 1122), a white one without the NBA logo man, and quickly it was clear, both uniforms were mixed up during the autograph/photo session. The red jersey is the one he wore in 1989 when the east wore colour as the road team in Houston.
It is kind of sad that the false inscriptions on both uniforms were done with a strong black marker. But nonetheless great and very rare pieces.
Greetings from Germany,
Alex
