Why are 2015 WS baseballs dirty looking?

I think I'm noticing a difference between regular season game used baseballs, and baseballs used during this years World Series. It seems that 2015 World Series game used baseballs, instead of being rubbed down with Lena Rubbing Mud before use, looks to have instead been treated with something that resembles graphite. Anyone else notice this difference?

I noticed that too. Some almost even looked scuffed.

I bought a "game ready" ball at royals fan fest and it looks 50 years old. Was wondering the same thing.

In attempting to answer my own question, I'll add that the printing of the WS ball is in Gold ink, and that may add to the illusion?
