What a joke. He's a multi millionaire right? This is why in a few years they will run out of real fans.

...that is double what he charged when he was still playing... dont know why retirement would cause that much of an increase in the cost of an autograph (other than an initial surge of interest because of the announcement). its not like he is incapable of signing anymore. pretty crazy.

Are the players the ones who decide the prices or the company that they're signing for? I always thought the company decides the prices based on how much it costs to have the player come and do the signing.

So glad I got Jeters auto on a my cervelli jersey from his 3000th hit game for free at Fenway. He also signed a game used ball for my girlfriend.

Unless its for charity, I think a signature means a lot more when you line up for free or catch them in person randomly....otherwise it's like buying a moment and not having the moment happen naturally (if that makes sense). Your free jeter autos will always be more rare and prized than one some businessman paid 13000$ for. (In my opinion).

I spoke with Steiner and asked why the high Jeter prices. Steiner told me that they have maxed out every signing and could do hundreds more. The demand for Jeter's autograph remains sky high.

So if fans were smart they wouldn't pay and voila, price drops. oh well....
