    Who's bat is this?

I went to an antique market last weekend and found this bat. I have no idea who may have used it, but Mitch Williams is the only name that I could come up with, but I don't think he ever wore #9. Any ideas as to who may have used it?

Perhaps Kevin Mitchell. He used to have "MITCH" on his bats back in the late eighties.

From Uniwatch: Great find by Bruce Menard.) … Keith Olbermann sent in a shot of Kevin Mitchell going NNOB during his first game with the Giants. This wasn’t so uncommon back in the day when a player got traded, especially if their new team was in the middle of a road trip. The traded player often had to wait a game or two for his NOB. The ’89 Giants probably posed a particularly tricky problem, because their NOB lettering was vertically arched. …

Wow, that's a surprise to me...I never thought about Kevin Mitchell...I'll have to look to see if there are any potential photo matches out there, although I would be shocked, but who knows? Many thanks for the feedback!

I believe it to be Kevin Mitchell as well. Just curious, how much did you pay for the bat?

Kevin "Mitch" Mitchell - Cincinnati Reds (but you're correct, he never wore #9). Possible someone else used his bat? BTW, love the edit feature. Used it to resize the bat and make additional comments! Thanks!

Sorry, I was wrong. Kevin Mitchell did wear #9 one year.

Thanks! I thought that he did for one season or part of a season with the Giants.

Well...let's just say it was less than I would have expected to pay for a former NL MVP's bat. I think the guy doesn't do a lot of research on what bats he has in his inventory. They are at an antique market and the guy just has a booth that he rents and I've never met him. I just look at the bats, see what price they are marked and pay the attendant. Its the 2nd bat I've bought from him and both times they have turned out to be pretty good finds. He also has quite a few store model bats that don't sell very well. I also found a Dave Collins bat in the bunch, but I didn't buy it...at least not yet anyway...I don't collect bats, but if I come across one that I like at a decent price I usually get it. The only thing that drew me to it afterwards was the fact that Mitchell had a brief stint with the Red Sox, and I am a Red Sox fan and, sort of a collector ...meaning that I have a few items but am not looking to build a large collection at this point. Am I open to selling this one? Sure, you can email me at wfl1974@yahoo.com if you have any interest.
