I purchased this jersey with the hopes that it might have once been worn by the great Charley Trippi. It would have been used while playing for the 3rd Air Force Gremlins during WWII.
I was able to contact his son and send pictures. He told me that his father looked at the photos and did indeed think that this was one of his jerseys from that time. Problem is they have no photo evidence that would verify visually that it was indeed his jersey.
The jersey has several repairs and extra material hand sewn into the elbow areas for extra padding. It is a size 46. I also included a small pic from the front of a 1945 Gremlins program in which I believe there is a style match to the numbers.
So, I'm asking for any help that the forum can provide to help me solve this riddle. anyone have any info or better yet, photos of Mr. Trippi wearing this exact or style jersey. Thanks!
