I have heard of this going on at Dodger Stadium for some time... But let's face it, much of the GU stuff that makes its way out into the marketplace historically, from any locale, got there via the clubhouse back door. In the 60s into the 80s, it wasn't an industry yet like today.

So wasn't sure, but the thieves that took the shrunken heads also took the DiMaggio bat? The bat will be impossible to move, but the heads are probably cursed...

It would probably be harder to photomatch the shrunken heads too

I just saw another article that references the guy's eBay member name that was selling this Dodgers gear, looked it up and seems he is listed there as a "Top Rated Seller"..excellent!

Hey at least you know his items are legit, in the sense they came right from the clubhouse. I don't put anything past anyone.

                      Re: TMZ: Dodgers GU arrests

The thing is, there have been a few instances where hobby figures once known for obtaining authentic items, once they get cut off from their sources or overwhelmed with legitimate competition, take to selling fakes while riding the reputations of their days offering legit stuff. One jersey seller decades ago used the fact that he stole and/or paid off clubhouse sources to get legit items, which most collectors who knew him gleefully bought. With teams and bulk buy dealers taking over the process, however, this guy concocted fakes, selling bogus merchandise to people still convinced that he was a good source bsed on his previous dependable, if underhanded methods.

The same thing happened in autographs, where a Florida dealer had a legitimate business partnership with Ted Williams on autographs for several years. The partnership broke off due to illicit actions by the dealer, and he attended a few shows with a table full of bogus Teddy Ballgame autographs, "authenticated" by phots he brought along of him and Williams when the two worked together.
