Mears Auction Lajoie Bat

Any thoughts from anyone regarding this circa 1900 Lajoie stamped bat?

I've seen others but they all weight considerably more. Of course they were also in MUCH better condition.

Does anyone have any incite as to the background and possible use of these bats?
