Guess I'll start it off with a few bats I've taken in recently..Danry Vasquez is a minor leaguer in Detroit's system. Picked it up at a minor league game. Always wanted a Pudge, and I just like Baez because he doesn't get cheated. Dude gets his cuts in (too much so).

Included in a large lot of bats I just acquired is a Nick Punto that I've photo matched to Game 2 of the 2011 NLCS and Game 6 of the 2011 World Series.

Congrats on another nice pickup Sean! That Ruth bat is really neat.. I like the mystery aspect of the non LVS bats from that era....if photos ever surface linking Ruth to the brand, watch out! Certainly seems to match the size you would hope to see!

Thanks. I figure Mears and PSA recognize this model as a Professional model bat (the store model Ruth Hanna bat was model #5, this bat is model 12) and its certainly much more reasonable than a LS. Would be great if they could find a photo of Ruth with a Batrite bat like they did with Gehrig recently.

Hanna Batrite catalogs were found and list the model number for Ruth store model bats as model 5. This bat is model 12 making it solely a pro model.

This Gehrig bat at Hunt is model number 11 which is listed in the Batrite catalogs as model 11. So it makes this one rely solely on the use traits and dimensions to determine pro use.

in addition pro model Hanna Batrite bats have the weight stamped on the knob, retail bats do not.

There are other differences also in how the bat is turned and the quality of the wood that determine pro model.

Just got in a Mark Salas 2016 Mother's Day GU White Sox cap. This time, I didn't get it directly from Salas, but instead from an eBay seller who claimed that his father had that and a 2016ST Salas GU jersey given to him by the Chief. I wonder if Salas knows that his gifts ended up on eBay for resale? That's never the case when he gives me stuff directly.

I attended an Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals AAA team) game on July 16, 2016. It was a jersey off their backs auction night. The Storm Chasers wore special Mossy Oak Camouflage jerseys to celebrate country night with proceeds benefiting The National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF).

I walked away with one awesome jersey. I won Royals #1 overall prospect Raul Mondesi's game used jersey. He is also the only person in the history of the MLB to make their first MLB appearance in the World Series.

Raul was suspended 50 games for taking cough syrup loaded with PEDs. At the time he was playing in AA. Shortly after he returned to play he was promoted to AAA. This jersey was from his 6th AAA game. I believe that this is also the very first, and at this point only, Raul Mondesi AAA jersey that has hit the market.

In this game Raul went 1 - 2, including a sac bunt and a walk. He hit his first AAA double (fourth overall AAA hit) and scored one run (his second overall AAA run). He would also strike out for the 10th time.

The jersey has some good dirt on the front but is hard to see because of the camo coloring. The jersey is also unique as far as I see. I know Mossy Oak is supposed to have random patterns on their items but as I look at the pic with the players sitting in the dugout, I see the left sleeve looks very similar if not exactly the same on 6 of the 7 players where the sleeve is visible. The one difference is Mondesi's jersey. Raul also signed his name on the number 7. I think Raul started with the number 37 his first couple games in AAA but need to verify that. His usual number 27 has been manager Brian Poldberg’s number so he has settled for #17 at this time.

The best thing of all was my son was incredibly happy and excited. This made his day.

Excited to add this one to the collection- 2015 Chase Utley GU Postseason jersey. This is the takeout slide jersey when he broke Tejada's leg and MLB came up with the Utley Rule. Can't wait to get it signed with a great inscription!

It has been a while since I was able to post in pickups. Here are my pick ups for July. The baseballs on the left in cubes are all authenticated used baseballs from July. The baseball on the right in the cube is a Giancarlo Stanton Final Round Home Run (4th HR of the Final Round) I got in person during the Home Run Derby this year. The ones not in cubes were caught by me during All Star Week events BP.

Ian Kinsler HR match. I'm certain he used this bat to hit a 1st inning HR the day before as well, but it was a brand new bat with no marks to match. I have matched it to subsequent AB's in that game. Thanks again to Rich for the photomatch!

Most collectors know that Musial had a contract with H&B in the 1940s, but after 1950ish, nearly all of his bats had "MUSIAL MODEL" in block letters (or sometimes "MUSIAL STYLE"). However, there was one order of 12 bats in early 1961 that were made with his updated signature. That signature style eventually appeared on hundreds of replica bats, but only 12 gamers are known to have it. Can't find any distinctive seam imprints or ink transfer, but there are rack scrapes and other marks on the barrel that suggest possible light use. Regardless, just happy to have a Musial bat with this signature. Have only seen one other -- at the Louisville Slugger Museum (photo at bottom of post).
