help with 1970 Wilson NFL football C

From what I was told , this was the first NFL football design used when the NFL and AFL combined. I believe it to be pretty rare as I cannot find much info about it. I purchased it years ago at a retired Wilson sporting goods rep auction. Ball is soft , but I have not tried to put air in it, I assume no air has been put in it since it was made. Also came in this display box which I believe is from Wilson as well. Looking to sell it but not at a giveaway price. Any help or interest out there?

You're correct that these were used immediately following the NFL and AFL merger, and that they are very rare footballs. Probably ten or so I can recall seeing for sale in the last decade.

These were used for less than one season; the typesetting is obviously atrocious on the 1970 balls, and the more recognizable small-logo Rozelle balls were introduced in the latter portion of the 1970 season (which were then used through about 1975).

As to value, condition matters a lot. I've seen them sell anywhere from $100 to $500+ depending on condition and provenance. Obviously with your ball being in fantastic condition, it'd be higher up that range. With it being a sample ball, that may hold down the value slightly for some collectors. Hard to say with certainty. Hope this helps!

Looks like these are selling for even more than they were a couple years ago. After checking around a bit, wouldn't surprise me to see this fetch $700-$800.
