The Orioles celebrated the 20th Anniversary of Cal Ripken Jr. playing in his record breaking 2131st game on 09/01/15 vs. Tampa (they were on the road on the 6th; which was the actual date) and prior to the game, they hung the 2131 banners on the warehouse and Cal threw out the ceremonial first pitch to teammate (and current Orioles exec.) Brady Anderson.

I was able to purchase the Orioles dugout lineup card from that game at FanFest last December (I had remembered the date) & had Cal sign & inscribe it for me the other day:

Picked this up this morning. Left my huse at 4:30am and drove an hour and a half to McComb Mississippi to an Estate/Consignment sale to be first in line to purchase this jersey. Anthony "Booger" McFarland game used 1996 LSU vs Vanderbilt gold jersey. LSU has worn Gold jersys in the 1940s, in 1996 vs Vanderbilt, 1997 vs ND in the Independence Bowl, 1998 vs Florida, and in 2016 against Mississippi state, with each jersey being different.

Raul Mondesi bat photo-matched to three at bats against Jose Fernandez on August 24, 2016. In his very first at bat against Jose he hit the first pitch he saw, a 94.8 MPH fastball, to CF Marcell Ozuna for a single. That would be his first and only hit off of Jose Fernandez and is his 16th career hit. #RIPJF16. Also posted in Royals thread (#346) with more pics and info.

With my Dad's very recent passing here, the hobby has been a welcome, small distraction for me.

Here is another bat I added from the 70's, a '76 Tony Perez Bicentennial bat with nice pine tar and Reds 580 Gift Shop tape dating to being pulled on Sept. 18th, 1976.

Sorry to hear about your dads passing. My wife has been extremely ill for the past 1.5 years and this hobby does sometimes create a needed distraction that keeps me going.

Hi Ben. So sorry to hear about your dad. My mom passed last year and it was/is tough. You realize there are very few "agenda free" people out there who care deeply for you, making it so tough when they go, particularly with life's constant milestones. My wife is expecting any day now, and it is hard sharing it without mom. Oh well. Such is life. We grow through pain. It populates us, we reflect and hopefully grow in character.
Whoa!! This is more than I expected to write. Getting preachy....

My condolences on your father's passing. May God give you strength and courage at this difficult time.

On a different subject, that is one sweet Perez bat.

Hi Ben, I understand your loss and offer my prayers. I lost my Dad earlier this year to cancer as well. It was sudden and unexpected. Once I found out how bad he was, I went back east to see him. A couple weeks later he was gone.

He is the reason I love baseball so much to this day. In fact one of our last conversations was about how he made it to another Spring Training. We even discussed a couple games on the phone and those conversations are priceless to me now. He passed away a week before this season began.

Like you, I have taken some small solace in my GU collection more this year than ever in my life. It helped distract me and also think of him and how he felt about that particular player.

Thank you, all of you guys, it is really appreciated. And thank you as well to those that reached out to me directly as well...
My Dad was fascinated by this hobby and he would always ask me the latest developments when we talked. He thought it was great to have something like this that you loved, that was a distraction from the typical day to day challenges of life and that you could do well on also.
He worked very, very hard at his job and yet, always found time after a long day to play catch, shoot baskets, or throw batting practice to me because he knew I loved playing sports so much and it was important to me. I told someone the other day, the last scene in Field of Dreams where Ray gets to finally throw catch with his Dad? Well, I was lucky enough to have that, all the time, thru my childhood...

Not game used, but team issued, Michigan Wolverines Easton E700 hockey helmet. I've always wanted one of these, so I'm pretty excited to have it. Back in the day, the stripes were added by the team equipment manager with yellow tape. I would like to find one of those to add to my collection as well.

Knocked two more bats off my 1964 Cardinals want list with the additions of infielder Jerry Buchek and pitcher Curt Simmons. My want list is now down to four position players -- Bob Uecker, Johnny Lewis, Doug Clemens and Ed Spiezio. Also looking for pitchers' bats, including Ray Sadecki, Roger Craig and Mike Cuellar.

Great work, Jeff. The commons/bench player/pitchers are usually the real toughies.

Man, don't I know it! It's funny -- there's almost greater satisfaction in finding a Jerry Buchek than there is in finding a Lou Brock. If I ever found a '64-era Bob Uecker, I think I'd treasure it almost as much as my '64 Bob Gibson, just because it's been my white whale for so many years.

Hope Shirley's doing well.

Not a big item but still excited. As a lifelong Titans fan I finally got the opportunity to go to a game, and this gear was thrown to me over the tunnel. I photo matched the gloves to Kevin Byard, and I believe the sleeve is as well.

Found this the weekend following Thanksgiving. Odell Beckham Jr.'s Chick Fil A Bowl game track jacket from 2012. I even found a photo of him wearing it with a hoodie underneath it at the Chick Fil A Bowl week festivities.. Pretty nice jacket.
