I hope no one here bought this.

1. Mets started using mesh for BP jerseys in 1984 so the year is wrong.

2. Mets BP jerseys from that era did not have set tags.

3. The Rawlings label was obviously re-sewn (see extra needle holes and different color threads), probably to add the set tag.

I sent MEARS an email earlier in the week, they never responded.

Surprising you never got a response, or is it ?

I have had several issues with Mears and its authenticating.

Auction companies are making sure they never state "game used" or "game worn". That is how auction companies are now skirting over taking liability for their auctions.

On the other hand the buyers/bidders should do their own research and not just believe what they are told on a piece of paper or on a CPU.

This is a good portion of the reason why I don't trust the newer MEARS authentication letters (even the ones that Goldin pays for). I've bought items from MEARS that were listed as minor league items from the 50s that upon receipt looked more like 80s stadium giveaway or toy items. Similarly, I've received a 60s Braves cap that they had listed as a 80s cap... so the lack of reliability goes both ways.

A part of me feels that the moment an authenticator starts their own auction house, a lot of their credibility must come under question. When they start hosting monthly consignment auctions, that scrutiny must be increased even further.

1983 Mets:

Guys, I was unaware there was any non-resolved issues. Is so, please contact me at (414)-828-9990 or troy@mearsonline.com

To both Phil316 and Larry Walker fan, please let me know if there are any unresolved issued. I do remember having items brought to my attention and then successfully resolved.

To Larrywalker fan, yes I recall the misdating of the Braves cap and once brought to our attention, we immediately remedied.

We strive hard not to make mistakes and hope our overall body of work reflects our efforts.

Please contact me immediately with any issues, Troy R. Kinunen - MEARS
