Hello Members,

I have a very important vintage jersey that needs some slight restoration.

It is an old flannel Chicago Cubs jersey.

The "Cubs" chest logo and the "Bear" sleeve patch were both taken off. However, the previous owner just put them into a scrapbook, and therefore, I have the ORIGINAL patch/logo.

I just need these sewn back on by an expert.

The players #, identifer strip, and Wilson tag are still in tact.

I have seen on this forum that Lon Lewis is the best in the biz, but that he might not be doing jersey restorations anymore..... Does anyone know of another person/business that would sew the patches on for me???

Also, how much does this type of restoration affect value? Even though the patches are 100% original to the jersey, just have to be re-sewn?

Thank you!

Hurricane,

Lon just recently restored a couple A's jerseys for me. He is still restoring.

In terms of affecting the value of a jersey, obviously all original is the best, but even having an original patch or decal restored is far better than having a duplicate placed.

Hope this helps.

Don

I contacted Lon about replacing a nameplate on a 1970s Detroit Lions jersey. Unfortunately he doesn't do football anymore, only baseball. Is there anyone that does football restoration?
